ENTSO-E is inviting stakeholders to join the public webinar on “Data Centres and the Power System: Expected Trends, Challenges and Opportunities”.

Place: Online
Date: 23 June 2026
Time: 10:00 – 12:00 CEST

The rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital services is reshaping the role of data centres in the European power system. ENTSO-E will host a public webinar bringing together key representatives from EU institutions, the energy system and the data centre sector for an open exchange on the challenges and opportunities ahead.

The webinar will open with the presentation of ENTSO-E’s report “Data Centres and the Power System: Expected Trends, Challenges and Opportunities”. Offering a transmission system operator perspective, the report examines how data centres consume electricity, the implications for secure grid operation, and how connection requirements are evolving in response. The report further analyses challenges for grid planning and how they can be addressed. Finally, the report highlights the flexibility potential of data centres and explores how this can be harnessed for grid support and market participation.

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion bringing together representatives from across the sector to exchange views on data centres growth trends, system impact, and flexibility potential.

The detailed agenda will be published ahead of the event.

We are pleased to announce speakers from the following organisations to the webinar: Agora Energiewende, EirGrid, European Commission- DG ENER, EU DSO Entity and European Data Centres Association (EU DCA).
